Haven Christian Centre
Our History
The Haven Christian Centre owes its origins to a group of Christians meeting in a home in Dennis Close, Littleover, in the early 1980s. Then, when the Heatherton Estate began to be built in the 1990s the churches of Littleover - St Peter's Parish Church, the Baptist Church in Thornhill Road, and the Methodist Church in Constable Drive, decided that a single church should be planted on the new Estate, and a steering committee was formed for that purpose.

On the last Sunday in April 1993 an inaugural serice was held in Littleover School, Pastures Hill, when a number of people made the decision to be part of the new church. It officially became an LEP (Local Ecumenical Partnership) in November 1996 at a service attended by the Mayor of Derby among others. The church continued to meet in Littleover School, then later moved to the Derby Grammar school for Boys.
From 1996 there was a fund-raising initiative with a view to having a Church building, and with much hard work and the support of the Methodist Church and others, a plot of land was purchased in Hollybrook Way, and the current church building was opened in December 1999 in time for Christmas Celebrations and a memorable Millennium party!
